The North Korean nuclear crisis, cooperation on fighting terrorism and transnational crime, plus tsunami recovery and reconstruction efforts were mentioned by China's state-run media as topics on Rice's agenda.
Economic issues may also come up during the Rice meetings since the Sino-U.S. Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade is set to meet in China next week. A high-level U.S. delegation, including Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez, Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Portman, is to attend.
